What Fiat Sunlight failures look like

2,233 Fiat Sunlight tests on record carry the manual reference DVSA attaches to each defect. The most frequent problems were with axles, wheels, tyres and suspension on 260 tests (11.6%), with lamps, reflectors and electrical equipment on 157 tests (7.0%) and with visibility on 117 tests (5.2%). A test can fail on more than one thing, and an MOT can be failed on one defect while another is only advised, so these counts do not add up to the number of tests.

Narrowed down from the categories to the individual defects themselves, three come up on more than one test:

  • Tyre worn close to legal limit/worn on edge

MOT inspection manual reference 5.2.3, in axles, wheels, tyres and suspension

Recorded on 210 of the 2,233 tests: 7 failures and 203 advisories or minors.

  • Windscreen wiper does not clear the windscreen effectively

MOT inspection manual reference 3.4, in visibility

Recorded on 83 of the 2,233 tests: 21 failures and 62 advisories or minors.

  • Position lamp not working

MOT inspection manual reference 4.2.1, in lamps, reflectors and electrical equipment

Recorded on 43 of the 2,233 tests: 17 failures and 26 advisories or minors.

Where there is enough data to compare: Fiat 500 (3,189,524 tests), Fiat Panda (1,024,390 tests), Fiat Punto (1,007,044 tests), Fiat Ducato (954,898 tests), every Fiat model (8,895,335 tests).

Clauses are read from the manual reference at the end of every defect on the cached test records, and a defect shown here has to appear on at least two of them before it is named. The site-wide breakdown explains how that works and compares every make.
